Out of curiosity, are the two baby's still swimming? Or did they just disappear?

Aw, thank you! :) It wouldn't be nearly as good without everything I've learned from here (and am still learning). Hopefully I can get my nitrates up soon and make my veges happier.

Unfortunately by the next day they had disappeared.
I'm in the process of cleaning all the beds from accumulated sand and detritus and found two of the barrels have started to split.
The two halves are from the same barrel and are blue on the outside but white in the middle.
The other three barrels are solid blue and they are fine with no sign of cracking so I must conclude that steering clear of the two tone barrels is the thing to do.

You said you nearly fainted at the cost of the wood. I got around that. Found some folks that had a deck they wanted removed. I took a look at it and the wood was in decent shape. For free, except for my labor, I had enough to do the 12 beds in these photos. <url>http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=22925<url>

If I hadnt gone back and re read this I couldnt have said how long my system has been running.
Its still going strong and produced heaps of veg.
All the beds were cleaned for the first time around 2 years ago to remove sand and roots and the bacteria on the gravel didnt die in the process so no fish problems occurred.
I only have around 10 fish left at approx 2.4 Kg each and wont be ordering any more till I re locate to the new house.
That will be an exercise in itself moving and re setting up.
Not looking forward to it.
I guess I had better eat the remaining fish and then start from scratch again.
