I finally got a reply from the manufactures of the 500L green tubs.

I wrote:

I have purchased your Jumbo 500 lt tanks - Article number 05573.
I intend to use them, to grow fish for human consumption.
Can you confirm that these tanks are suitable for holding water for human consumption. (food safe)?
Are they made from re-cycled or new materials?
They appear to be an excellent product for their cost.

Yr message was rcvd only now.
No sorry. Our water-butts are not suggested for contact with foods or human water.
Just for "raining water"

They do not say unsafe... this probably means, untested, we have nfi and want to cover our ass.
It's obviously a gamble you're willing to take. I probably would.
Big difference between 'not intended' and 'unsafe' imho
