I have to disagree with that Tim, but then there's a whole thread of mine about my problem with damnable airlocks! :-)

I suppose in this application the rule is sound. Air can escape at either end. The lowest section of pipe will always be filled with water, water entering from the GB will not be fast enough at first to trap air in the pipe. Any possible air locks can be avoided by some strategically placed holes.

In other cases where you have a tight upside down U shape then you may have issues. I suppose where ever you may trap air, something you have to consider when you design your piping.

I have been using tees everywhere instead of elbows to good effect, keeps vacuum from forming. You can add extensions to the top segment if there is enough water pressure to overflow the tee by itself.

The cost is very reasonable.... I would get two more if I had the room...

Correct. The 500L is my sump/marron tank and the 1000L is my fingerling tank.

hey Tim,
Derek started a thread about sketchup components.
I was wondering if you might upload your components so well crafted at the start of this thread to the 3d Warehouse. If you have, I can't find em, got a hint on search criteria?
