bath tub is growing a few Kgs of mint at the moment, fed by 35 hungry trout. :)

gravel will be used to seed new beds.

mint will be used for some mint wine (hopefully in time for Jaymie and Axl) ;)

There was some useful information there

I am looking to set up a system and am considering a bathtub as a growbed and another as a fish tank, so your experience was quite useful. It was interesting to read the experience and thoughts of someone using a growbed ration of less than the "optimum" 2:1.

You have proven that it can work quite succesfully, although I think that if you tinkered less it woud have been easier, but then the rest of us wouldn't have learnt or laughed (with you) as much

I just have to get a bathtub or two and then start the system cycling with the five goldies I have had in a blue barrel with no water changes for months  . Will have to wait for things to warm up a bit before i can get things cycling though (I guess?). So if your syphon goes missing from your bathtub towards the end of winter, I know nothing

Just read your post trentski :)

You will see from what follows why a 2:1 is important in the LONG run :)

So, today i reefed out the remaining mint and began pulling down the system. What a journey from the original recycle tub!

Here are some pictures in no particular order..................

I found the strawberry plant and fruit protected under the edge of the mint. remember its winter here
