Hi folks, I have been working on a small commercial sized aquaponic system and greenhouse for about six months now and are very close to start up. The greenhouse is 14 feet wide by 26 feet long. I have one 300 gallon stock tank with four 2' X 8' wooden growbeds lined with ponguard. The other tank is 200 gallons with two 2' X 8' growbeds. Eventually this node will include some nft troughs plumbed in after the browbeds.
Looks like I'm a couple of weeks away from initializing the system with feeder goldfish and plan to switch over to Yellow Perch in the 300 gallon node. What we stock the 200 gallon tank with is still up for discussion, bait fish might be an option, ice fishing is very popular around here and there is a large demand for golden shiners and the like. I've attched a few photos, will have more as work progresses.

really nice. Am a bit concerned about the height of the green house. your veggies will quickly use up this space especially toms.

Is the frame aluminum?

TNX folks, its been quite the project. This board along with Joel's publication helped out huge. dt I too am concerned w/height issues. Probably will stay away from crops like Toms & will concentrate on lettuces, chards and herbs to start off with. The gh framework is double dipped galvinized steel.

I resemble that remark

My height from top of GB media to shade cloth used as a shade ceiling is 1500mm (5 ft)....my tomato plants are over 8 metres in length (lay the stems along the back of your GBs and just keep laying them down)
I have sweet corn, where the tops touch the shade cloth, then bend over, get lots of corn cobs from them.

Growing climbing beans and cucumbers as well, just a matter of adapting.

Raimo did a thread on the tomato growing thing and I just put up some updated pics of my GB layout which shows the tomato plants in full fruit

Sort of forgot to add...love the setup, some nice work done there

Looking sweet Dayflower. Keep that wood stove stoked during those heavy snows. Looks as though you have plenty of fuel.

Hey folks , had a quick question. I'm cementing pvc and getting ready for a real test drive of the system. I'll run it for a week or so before I add fish, when I add fish it will be feeder goldfish to initialize the system. How many goldfish should I add? They are cheap money 11 cents per so thats not an issue. How many for the 300 gallon tank and for the 150 gallon tank? I don't mind losing goldfish to the cause, but when I add the Yellow Perch it would hurt a little more to lose them. On another note where do I find seasol in the states? I'm sure you Aussies don't use it all up over there.
