KP - unless you dilute your sample before testing and then multiply up, it is extremely difficult to tell with the preciseness you have shown in this poll. Personally, I have run my nitrate at between 80 and 160 for most of the last 18 months - though currently with the rain and the fact that I have harvest more than half my fish, I expect it would be significantly lower (must do a test sometime :-/.

Perhaps redo the poll showing the figures on the most commonly used card:

0-5
5-10
10-20
20-40
40-80
80-160

I did think about that as I wrote them, it started off in only 10ppm increments :-)
Thanks for the tip

my indoor system has been steady since startup at 40 ppm. I have added more plants- no change, added more fish- no change. I have not been keeping it at that figure it is just what it is.

Where's the option for: Don't Know.
I haven't tested for a few months at least.
I think in the beginning its good to test because it allows one to get a feel for your systems ranges, after that just watch your fish and plants.
Earlie on I had thought running a system higher in nitrates would be better but I just feed the fish what they will eat and go from there, guess I'll have to test now because I have been running the system in the just above freezing zones.

Thanks John, I'm with you, except I'm wanting an option for "Dunno, don't own a test kit"
