Was staring into the breeders tank today. Blow me down if i didn't see a few fingerlings from the big tank in there. They must have travelled up and across the siphon pipe b/n the 2 tanks. What a crack up. Will have to net them out. Gunna get a proper fish net Monday to replace the 4 buck speeeshl from Murrabit Market at Easter.

The sun must have been in the right spot, cause i got a good look at all the fingerlings in the big tank too. They are coming along really well spending their time swimming against the incoming return water along with their half dozen big brothers and sisters.

Used a thousand litres of fishwater to give plants around the home a liquid feed. Topped a thousand litres of rainwater into the big tank, just to freshen up the water a bit. Perhaps that's why I can see the fish.

Have started picking zuchs and pumkins six and a half weeks after seedling transplant. Although the lettuce hasn't wilted in the heat it is all hearting and bolting so need to use more and plant more. For those interested i had several varieties. The Cos has done really well along with one of the purple/brownish leaf lettuce, (dunno what it is.)

Put some pictures up Tuesday which will be 7 weeks.

AP - They're potty calf feeders TT picked up from a sale.
They're currently not in use. Each of the black fittings is a teet.

they were calf feeders vb. Gottem at the clearing sale where i got my milkvat. 150mm piping, 7 lengths, each length 4 metres. 10 bucks the lot. Gunna pump to a bio, drain to the pipes, replace those teats with net pots and drain from there to a constant volume bathtub and back to the sump. Will put some water plants in the bathtub. Not a big job but who feels like doing anything in 40C heat!

AP they are like zuchs in that they do develop a main growth stem from which all ur new leaves, flowers and fruit are derived. In zuchs this stem might travel half a metre or so over a growing season. Don't really have much experience with bush pumpkins. I have 3 in the bathtub. Should have made it 2 and underplanted with lettuce. That would all be harvested now as the pumpkin canopy covers the bed.
So yes they will take up space but nothing compared to traditional pumpkin vines.

The devil is in the detail vb. Out of 14 pipe ends, only 3 have an end cap, so gotta buy 11 at 18-19 bucks each! Will still be a cheap setup tho. I have the bathtub, the biotub, timber for framework, bit of spare gravel for the bio. It will provide a nice visual alternative to the bathtubs.

Picked myself up an old 340lt freezer to use to transport fish.

Attachments:
File comment: inside the lid. Will slide the airstone in thru here. Also allows air to escape so there will be no build up of air pressure with the oxygen being pumed into an enclosed tank

File comment: 340lts, should be able to transport plenty of babies if i ever have any success with broodfish. Can also comfortably pick up whatever fish i buy from wherever.

the tank needs a wipe out and i need to test it to make sure it is waterproof. There were some basket holders which had to be removed and the holes gooped.

In the description in the first photo above it should say 'oxygen being pumped', not 'pumed.'

picked up an oxy bottle and reg. Connect the airline to the brass burr and clamp. Then open the oxy flow VERY slightly. This e-size cyclinder has 4500lts of pure oxygen so could double as an aerator in the event of power failure.

1000lt fish transport vessels are very expensive. I picked the freezer up for $20. 10 minutes work drilling and gooping. The oxy reg was $90 as was the cylinder. (But not paying cylinder rental, normally $200/yr.)

Out of interest TT... got some tricky way of getting it filled? As soon as you do it by usual channels you will have to start paying rental...

It looks great btw :-) I hope it all works smoothly for you.
