Hi guys,
This question is directed at anybody who has intimate knowledge on the workings of this forum.
I have troubles.
AFAIK, the 'new posts' displayed are the posts that have been added to since you last logged in.
Fortunately for us this forum has grown very large.
Unfortunately for us, that means a lot of reading when we log on.
People keep telling me I should read as much as possible. But where to start? the easiest place is 'new posts' as the information is current.
But If I don't have time to read them all and close my browser, they are all considered to be read.
If I get distracted and my session ID expires, they are all considered to be read. This morning there were 82 new posts, I read about 20, then had to run out to get a photo for some1 and then the battery was flat so I went and did an hour's shopping. When I got back new posts was 9. so I lost 60 new posts.
I have tried the search with just a wild card * and sort by newest date, but that returns nothing.
I Would just love to be able to say show me new threads as of last night 11:00pm.
Is there a ways somebody has managed this? It's really driving me up the wall.

BTW Forum is great and I love it, but if we had nothing to complain about, there's be no progress, hence no BYAP :-) that's my pphilosophical 2c for the day

Yep... From the portal page click "Recent Topics" in the left hand menu. This brings up the posts from the last 24 hours.. you can then list the last 2 days, 3 days etc... You can also search for posts in the last 0.1 days or any other decimal point, to get just a few hours of posts.

It's all good... :)

What so: goto the 'forum' link at the top
Pick the category
then open all the ones that are marked today?...

I have tried that before I think, and it does work... perhaps I'm just too lazy. :-)

EB you're a legend! I never did look on the portal page... never thought there was anything to look at there. Thanks mate. Appreciate it, it's exactly what I wanted. (and a rant, but I already had that ;-))

That's great! Never knew you could get Recent Posts by the hour! I have had sessions die on me, too.

can you retitle this thread to a more appropriate question so others might be able to find the answer they seek?
