hi guys
this is what i set up as the small system at my new place. My sump pump was a bit rusted out so i am just using a small aquarum pump in a system based on Ebounds 2nd system http://backyardaquaponics.com/forum/vie ... php?t=1470
however i am getting overflow off the low edge of the main tank. I presume it is because it is open to the leaves and the duckweed has mutiplied while i was away. It has a few overflow holes in the top of the pipe and the notches at the bottom are about 10mm. i am going to try a slower pump toomorrow. I don't want to have to to a full redisign i'd rather put my energy into my next system. It has about 20 odd jade perch in it.

Hi beeso, looks like brilliant growth from such a low volume system. (Brush ur tommie flowers with a bird feather every day and bury a couple bananas for fruit set.)If u set up an outer/inner standpipe in ur fishtank, the overflow issue will disappear as u will have a predetermined max height in ur fishtank. (The base of the v crenellation in ur inner pipe.)

I would be inclined to remove ur plants from whichever is the fishtank, the blue bin or the bathtub. Those jades are gunna need clean water and air as they grow.

As an aside, I have admired ur red bathtubs from afar. Still love 'em. Good to hear from u and post those next system plans using sketchup. (Get a kid if u don't know how, I don't have a clue either!)

Just seen ur new property photos and i hate you. Use that slope man. Greenhouses across the slope, fishtanks at the bottom, one pump, let gravity do the work, all cheques payable to TT c/ Geelong.

Hey Beeso, if there are any bends in the overflow drain from the fish tank to the grow beds you might try straightening them out so that the drain flows as much as possible. If you mount the drain tee lower in the fish tank then it can work as an overflow in case the bottom end of the drain pipe gets clogged somehow or doesn't flow fast enough. That way water will still flow out of the drain instead of over the side of the fish tank.

no put fish tanks at top near the hacienda and fish from your deck then the growbeds cascading down the slope than the sump at the lowest- still just one pump..
