Well, I kinda haven't really been going into it lately, though I am hoping sometime this week, dad will give me some of his old Silver Perch and we could FINALLY set up a system.

And also, (dad NEVER logs off so there! hehe  :x   )

Well it seems 25C could be a high water mark, temp wise for my tank system. We had a 43C day on NY Eve and nudged 40C on NY Day. Got a max tank reading of 25C 8pm NY Day. I will be interested to see if we get above that.

It's just high enough to knock over trout, so am glad i don't have them atm.
The trout farms are prolly spewing, Ballarat had very small yields this year, due to consecutive 40C days last summer. Hope they're doing ok.

25c isnt to bad TT my 3000L tank got to 26.5c the other week when it hit 39c here. How many litres is that tank of yours?? Is your shed insulated at all?? I recon you may be one of the few that could probably do trout year round. I mean Geelong getting to 43c must happen as often as your footy team wins Grand Finals wouldnt it?

Ooooh troutman I wouldn't go there... TT's fish tanks used to be the Geelong team's Ice baths! Seriously, he'll take those kind of comments hard ;-)
I mean most Geelong supporters are touchy about the subject, but TT is hardcore!

True, true Kuda.... but based on past history, he really wouldn't have any right of reply for at least another forty years

I am far too fine a gentleman to resort to telling you 3 wise monkeys to gagf!
Seriously tho Troutman, the total system is about 7000lts.Tanks are in a typical suburban 6m by 4m shed, no insulation. Temps in the gh get about 5C above outside, but I don't get the heat transfer into the water that others do. I think it is bc I only have one water distribution point per bed. I will be interested to see what water temps i get thru winter. I suspect with a bit of care, trout could run here close to year round.
How are ur local teams the Shockers and West Coke going? My mob won everything this past season including the chook raffles, keep the gags coming.
On the tub thing KP, it was my 2 by 400 lt sumps that the players used to take their ice baths in post match. I hear West Coke just use them to take their ice, hehe. I have a very thick skin but a pretty sharp tongue, so it's all good. Check ur inbox in a few minutes.
Rupe, I don't really need to talk at all, it's in the book and on dvd for all to see.

Hey TT I was sorta on your side, sorta fence sitting devil's advocate...
I know about West Coke, too many cousins and too much ice ;-)
I was barracking for Geelong in the GF, Hell at least they're Victorian, almost the fond relatives now that there are interstate rivals to hate.

Does anybody have a shovel? This hole is deep...

Was wondering why I have so many flowers in the fruiting plants of my system, being it is only 6 weeks old. Then i remembered. About 3 weeks ago, i buried some VERY ripe banana skin and all, in each gb. I think Jaymie has mentioned they are high in potassium which facilitates flowering and fruiting.

All I can say is anecdotally, it seems to be a hit. Lotsa flowers and reasonable size fruit starting to appear on the zuchs and pumpkins.

Tommies are all setting. Most of them fell over the other day due to some wind. I am torn b/n running them along the beds or training them up high. Just have some crate support under them atm. They are still flying along but i need to get it sorted. Dasall.

Many flowers.. One cause can be caused by low nitrogen. Potassium will help fruiting.

I burried about 20 whole bananas (though small ones) in my system at one point last year. Worms loved them - couldn't really tell affect on system - but would have been positive.

I often have bananas left at the end of a bunch (they all rippen so quickly at the end) so will put them to this use.
