 Post subject: Non-return valves

Manya, was i you that mentioned a non return valve.

My little submersible pump isn't cutting it any more, i have had a swimming pool pump sitting on the front door step for about 12 months that i'm thinging of hooking up. Way over powered, but i can divert 3/4 of the flow back to the tank for now.

Problem is that i can't take off from the tank below water level as its buried. Is there a one way / non return valve that is "high flow" that i can put in the suction line (theres the fridgie terms :)) That way i could prime the pump from the filter basket and it will stay primed when it shuts off

Yes / No ?

Its called a foot valve.
Goes on the end of the suction hose in the tank.

Just called the local plumbing shop, some brass(no good) others plastic but don't know the type of plastic and about $15.

Steve a foot valve is a non-return valve only it is at the intake.
Their used in dams a lot.

thanks guys, will look up all the links soon. Nitingales..........like i need another excuse to go there :shock: there goes $100 if i go there, i'll come back with heap of other "stuff" i "need" :)
