Steve,
I want all of my half blue barrels.

We have had a couple of days of warm weather, along with the warm weather cone the Easterlies. On Friday night we generated around 2.5KWH and on Saturday night around 2KWH of power.
This is working fairly well, although I cant sometimes hear the blades thumping (like a helicopter) when the turbulence hits them. It must be hard on the bearings turning when the blade is a full pelt.

With the sewer issue, I think composting is really the way to go. You can find the humanure handbook out on the web by googling. No waster water (less pumping), no disposal issues, increased productivity of any growing you may do (or sellable product otherwise).

i like the disc one where the flaps open and close. best of both worlds. non directional yet reduced drag from non "active" flaps

Some dutch mob were doing the same on a smaller scale, it was called the turbie, the small unit is for catching up drafts on bigger buildings in the cities.

Hi Steve and all,

Sounds a bit like the windmill design i built just for the heck of it.
Not big, about 7ft across the diagonal but it worked quite well considering it was only 4ft off the ground and 8ft from a 15ft tall leylandii hedge.

The price was pretty good too.. nada :D

I made a very short avi of the windmill test action (only 15 seconds) with a not-so-great digi camera, not marvellous quality i`m afraid but if you fancy a peek:

www.nurl.us/7nx

It was a pretty gusty day with wind coming in from all directions.. it did spin around though and the sails did pretty much what they were supposed to do. Good enough for a test.. 30ft plus off the ground would be better.

I do like the look of those aerotecture tubines, they are like spinning sculptures! I may have to build one at some point .. just for the sake of curiousity

Hi i got a smaller system at my shack near Coffs Harbor It complrises 12 x 80w panels i get about 105 to 125 ah daily out of it on a good sunny day. i have just purchased a 500w wind gen that i havnt set up be interested to see how we go. We got on ok with the solar panels just had to be careful with use. Also used power conservitive appliances such as fisher paykell washing machine ,no gearbox, and vest frost freezer.and gas fridges we have moved out west for work and have a caretaker who manages with the solar quite well takes a bit of a change in thinking with solar as compared to mains on tap but will enjoy the no bill system when we return.

I hope someone has seen these before... If not then shame on you for not posting it. I looked through the forum but couldn't find anything. This is really a revolution. It's basically a motor that runs on magnets for power generation. Even though they say it'll last forever, magnets eventually die like everything else but we have more magnetic matter on earth than we do fossil fuels. There is a european company already in production of these motors and a goldcoast company that seem almost there. here are the links:

I found more:

this is a youtube video from lutec: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDDWhr84 ... re=related

Awesome stuff.

Is that cycclone stuff for real? A perpetual motor? Could someone explain that concept to me?

Just think if a tenth of the world military budgets were spent on develeping alternative energy sources. Hey if your gonna dream, dream big.

it's by no means perpetual. but I have found some other videos that might be considered close. anyway, magnets as you know have their own energy in the form of magnetic fields. A magnet will eventual lose it's magnetic field and become no more useful than a rock. so it doesn't fit the concept of perpetual motion as it will eventually stop as the magnets lose their energy, it could in theory last 100 years.
This guy has made a demo model that looks pretty real, I don't understand it that well myself but I am getting there, lots of research tonight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYcjjSfiNNE

This invention comes close to perpetual motion, however the figures they use in this video could be blown out of proportion. it's still a damn good idea even if I have absolutely no clue how it works. something to do with super pressurising water to heat it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh_-DUKQ ... re=related

I have a stand alone system here at Coffs on the farm It onsisits of 12x 80w panels and 12x2v deepcycle lead acid batteries that run a 24v system this is ran through a 1500w inverter its all looked after by a PL 40 solar controller. I also have a chinese 500w wind turbine that i have never installed. It is different to Tony from west oz ill fated unit deing a lot more of a rugged construction, The actual 6m mast mounts through cast iron housing. :D
