1680L/Hx6= 10080 L/H

140L/M x 60= 8400 L/H

10080L/H / 8400L/H = 1.2

390w/ 250w= 1.56

so at 2m head 6 of the smaller pumps will turn over 1.2 times the amount of water. it will however use 1.56 times more power to run.

then of course it will nearly cost a grand to have a pump in each tank. ouch.

BF i got a bit confused i thought you said 15 cm from the bottom of the tank,

with my tanks im going to have to go through the bottom of the tank as i cant find any fittings to go through the walls of a corragated tank so i have a few issues with gravity draining my tank dry ( its keeping me up at night ) so i kinda had that in mind but your going through the wall not the floor so either one of yoru tanks will always have some water in it ( asuming you keep the pumps off the bottom :) )

sorry if i confused you i am not that great at explaining my self verbaly and realy bad when i write

Cheers

BF you might want to check out the RIO Hyperflow pumps on ebay. I ordered a few yesterday and they seem to have the best litres per watt of power of any other pump I could find. I ordered the 50 watt model which pumps 3300 lph at 1.8m head and it cost $118. There are 10 models in the range so there should be one to suit what you are after.

thanks for the tip troutman. will look into them when the time comes.

here is a pic of plant progress. as you can see the pumpkins in the background and cucumber in foreground are being trained up to the roof.

today i noticed some fruit on both. will take pic of the fruit tomorrow. i also noticed some mildew so will need to treat the leaves with milk tomorrow.

the plant growth is phenomenal atm. the pumpkin must be growing 30cm a day. this coincides with an increase of fish feed due to higher temps.

BF - be sure to hand polinate your pumpkins for maximum fruiting.
