Funny, I don't remember you being short... but that certainly sounds like you're speaking form experience! :-)

How many fish you got in that 1100 gallon tank?
I have never seen an ammonia reading that high. (I had to go look at my color chart to see if it even went that high-- it does it goes up to 8ppm).

I have a 5 gallon tank with 15 to 20 rosy reds with no filtration and no water changes, and in a weeks time little to no ammonia with a slight trace of nitrite is all. Maybe there is suffecient bacteria in the gravel -it is well oxygenated.

If you can't do the water changes you might want to lock up that ammonia somehow.

I changed the design it is not that large anymore as I built a grow room. The tank itself is around 30 gallons roughly and the sump is around 30 gallons. Plus what is in the beds rotating.

I have about 7 fish in there 5 have died.

I trust that's fahrenheit? Better have them on the stove if it's celsius!
Anyhow I'm pretty sure that table was in Celsius, and 65 - 70 fahrenheit is about 18 - 21 Celsius. So ultra dangerous :-)

Not to worry if you fall in you will be boiled! sorry should have said :)

SD, do some fish research man, ya system is like lambs to the slaughter. Upside is anything that survives could prolly handle intergalactic space flights!

LOL I did do research I just omitted the ammonia test till today as I needed to buy one :) The fish seemed happy except the dead ones

damaged gills for one.

also psychological problems ;) lol

Whew I was worried about my plants. Those fish are not a priority to me really. Once the system cycles I will not be using goldfish anymore. Better than them living in a fish bowl I say!

I fell into my tank 6 weeks ago and broke or severely damaged (didn't see a doc) my ribs (still hurt cos I keep hurting them working utside :-( ), I can't image what it would have been like @ 70 degrees! OUCH!

Ohh and I did pull all the fish out of the tank. They are all in my established system. The 8 of them is how many were in there.

Temp confirmed to be 20c

Also I got the rest of my grow beds making a total of 12 half's enough to complete inside garage system. However I need to get a mess more for the outside system.

Got to love cheap barrels.. you never know what is inside them!

This time it was glycerin "soap" and iodine lol.. other times its phosphoric acid or sodium hydroxide or whatever. Good lord the chemicals you have to deal with to get cheap barrels.

Anyway I figure if I clean them good enough it should be ok. However iodine stains anything pretty much. So YAHOO!!! Green barrels.

And yes I have issues cutting straight lines. The barrels are kinda lopsided somewhat but I do not mind I do not have it flood that deep.
