Hi Jaymie!

that is such a cool level of blind dedication. You make a back up redundant

Who? Me or them?

Really, truly, at 4am I was up the hill with a bloody bicycle pump, pumping air into the fish tank because I haven't got my act together and sorted out some back-up air supply for the tanks.

I spoke to a sparky friend today and worked out the size of gennie that we'll need, if that's the way we decide to go.

lol, wouldn't bucketing water for 5 minutes given you more air?

but then it wouldn't have been as good a read on the forum!!!

you're also on the list for a visit and bit of Mcguyver tinkering ;)

the thing is, these fish tend to spook easily at night. I've wandered up there before with a small torch and they all charge around and bang into the walls. This seemed the easiest method of getting them O2 without stressing them too much (which would have made them use more O2)

Of course they are stressed, they know that everytime you look at them, you are sizing them up to eat. Any chance of pics to help me get my head around this concept of bicycle rescucitation???

PICTURES!!! It was bloody 4 in the morning!!! No!!!

calm blue ocean

No, sorry Snag, there aren't any pictures. But, follow these instructions...

Take one bicycle pump. This one still had the attachment for pumping up balls (small spiky thing). Take the air hose off the non-functioning electric aeration device, push the hose over the spike until firmly attached. Hold the handle of the pump in one hand and the barrel of the pump in the other hand..... do I need to go on?
