Hi all

New to the site, found it via a recent mag article.

I currently have a 'normal' vege garden at home - however, since reading the article, the plan was to do all the research so that when we move to some acres (large in-ground vege garden originally planned) we can start from scratch with an aquaponics system.. (and the hubby loves the idea too  )

Hmmm... now I'm tossing up how to convert my current 'back corner of the yard' vege patch :D - I don't want to wait until we move!

So... put me down as 'scrounging for parts/researching'

Love the site, love the idea - can't wait.

I'm also getting the OH to build me a cold smoker so I can smoke the fish!

Oops!! OH = Other Half, the half with the handyman skills and lots of patience for my projects!

I talked to him about it last night, and we're going to get rid of half the vege garden beds and set up an aquaponics system.. anyway, that's the plan! It might take a while - I have to get the book first!

Our vege garden is on two levels, I'm thinking of setting up a fish pool against the retaining wall, with a couple of grow beds set on stands along the top of the retaining wall, just above the fish.

Anyway, early days... can't wait!

My eany meany system is nearly complete..still sorting out timing of flood and drain..getting the beds to fill more uniform. Also got a problem with the top bed making gurling noise when draining...I think it is draining too quickly. No fish in system yet, still have to flush scoria and gravel growing media more. Will post better pics when finished
:D

Beautiful pics, livebeyond!

Why not add them to the public album?

Are you happy with the scoria so far?

Steve

At this point, I'm saving money and getting ready to move from Korea in 2007. In the meantime, I'm learning as much as possible and am getting ready to start small and try to see if I can make a go of it.

To bad we can't vote two different ways. I have my fish, and they are happy, but still working on the grow beds. Sort of scrounging for parts, I have most of them and finding the time to put it all together.
