scotty check my thread somewhere, what i meant was my water level bend is part of an "open" system, so i cut the down side shorter. i've probably confused you more. nothing that applies to your system setup anyway ;)

I bought some chlorine/chloramine neutraliser today:

http://www.theaquariumshop.com.au/shopexd.asp?id=1262

but I neglected to read the fine-print until I got home! "Not to be used on fish intended for human consumption."

Should I return/exchange it?

Nice system, you hard work is really paying off. Did I read right, $7.50 per bath tub!!

Do you have cloramine in your water supply? if not don't worry about the chemicals and let the chlorine gas off.

Yep. $44.85 for a pallet of 6 spa baths.

I live in metro Sydney. The salesperson at the pet store said there is chloramine in the mains water supply - perhaps someone else can confirm?

welcome to the bathtub brigade bro! Strong, durable, cheap, already plumbed, i love 'em. U beat me on price, the best i did was 10 bucks and they weren't fancy ex spa baths like yours. Got yaself about 1500lts of gb space there, plenty room to grow a heap. Good luck.

Scott / rupe,

i have a feeling that the "not intended for fish for human consumption" amy be like "may contain traces of nuts" good luck in finding much of anything that doesn't say it.

obviously i'm not endorsing putting something like malachite green in your system

The one I use (which I buy from Woolworths) says nothing like that. Mind you - that doesn't necessarily mean it is safe. Thankfully it doesn't contain traces of nuts though (since my son is anaphylactic to nuts ;-)).

Ok, I exchanged my chlorine/chloramine neutraliser today. Now I've got Nutrafin Aqua Plus: http://www.theaquariumshop.com.au/shopexd.asp?id=1024

A question about plumbing: I am planning on using silicon for the drainage plumbing. Is it ok to do the same on the supply plumbing? Or should I be using PVC cement due to pressure concerns?

If I should be using PVC cement, what sort do I need? ie. what is safe for fishies & me?

Thanks Steve, I picked up some potable PVC cement from B tonight - had no idea how much I needed, will find out soon I guess.

After work tonight I plumbed up most of the supply irrigation. It's not cemented together yet as I'm waiting for some drier weather.

& I can't use a wheelbarrow to cart it cos there's steps to traverse!

2500kg @ 20kgs/trip == ... OMG! 125 trips! I'm gonna look like this when I'm done.
