TinC,
I disagree with your political views, but I'll leave it to others more eloquent and able to present their thoughts coherently - I can't.

I will address a couple of issues you have raised "I am more concerned with state and local representatives. Because ultimately, Rudd or Howard's actions will not directly affect me. Who is going to fix the traffic on Hale Rd in Forrestfield? Who is going to fix the public transport routes? Who is going to give me a rebate on my solar panels?"

The fix for traffic issues on Hale Rs, the Freeways and even local roads is simple. If you don't drive you will not contribute to them. In fact, with peak oil, it won't be too long before driving will be restricted to emergencies and those who need to drive for work. I oppose any further expansion of our road system and promote an upgrade to our rail system, especially for commuters.

The other item you raised is subsidies on Solar Panels. Unfortunately the only effect that applying subsidies on Solar Panels has, is to increase the price of solar panels by at least the amount of the subsidy.

The subsidy increases demand and the supply does not keep pace with the demand, so prices rise. This occurs in the supply of the panels, charge controllers, batteries and inverters, but more importantly on the price of the installation, because to get the subsidy you must have it installed by a registered Renewable Power specialist.

[Rant]
I can't get the subsidy because I want to install the panels myself and I only have a Diploma of Electronic Engineering and 35 years of experience with low voltage power systems, instead of a Certificate in Renewable Energy and less than 5 years experience (because the courses only started only 7 years ago and take 2 years).
I can't buy the panels because since the announcement of the subsidy, the panel prices have risen by around $3 per watt, from around $6 - $7 per watt last year, and that is despite the improved exchange rate.

[/Rant]

I, for one will not be voting for either major party candidates as my first, second or third choice.
Heck, the ALP have a used car salesman as their candidate in my electroate. They seem to me to be scraping the barrel there.

Which is regarded more highly, a politician or a used car salesman??

A used car salesman... if you go back to him later he's not going to bulls*&t you, he'll just tell you to f&*k off....

A politician will probably tell you that you need to consider the nation as a whole, that you're being selfish and it was probably your own fault right from the beginning and you should never have trusted the mob you went to first

Tony,

Your points are valid, but they are in no way against my political stance. You and everyone else has the CHOICE not to drive cars to and from work. So my other option is 2 buses or a bus and a train. Costing more in bus fares than petrol.

I want my government to fix the roads or fix the public transport system. Is that too much to ask. Or add a bicycle path on Tonkin Hwy... Hale Rd needs goes from two lanes at one side of tonkin to one lane on the other going into Forrestfield. Plus there is a give way onto that rd as well. There are 4 lanes of traffice being forced down one rd.... They don't need to extend the rds, just fix the lights and add a damn merge right sign, so people know.

Put all the bastards in jail as soon as they get elected, saves time in the long run ( a misquote from Diskworld think it was the last continent).

Bk

The ABC was running a cartoon series, one of them was Soul Music. They put them on in the kiddies hour: Crow sitting on a battlefield pecking at the dead saying " horses for courses; well second courses anyway", you got to worry about programmers  .

Interesting.... yahoo.com.au has been running a poll "who will you be voting for..." ....

nearly 27,000 respondants (or two or three people sitting there clicking the mouse lol).....

Shows Labour 49%, Libs/Nats 36% ..... been consistant all day long.....

That's a massive 13% points..... two party preferred would have to translate to at least the same......
