Is it UV clarifyer or steraliser?
the UVC flocculates rather well

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algaculture

"Algae can be harvested using microscreens, by centrifugation, or by flocculation.[5] Froth flotation is another method to harvest algae whereby the water and algae are aerated into a froth, with the algae then removed from the water.[6] Alum and ferric chloride are chemical flocculants used to harvest algae. Chitosin, a commercial product commonly used for water purification, can also be used as a flocculant. The shells of crustaceans are ground into powder and processed to acquire chitin, a polysaccharide found in the shells, from which chitosin is derived. The more brackish, or saline the water that the algae is being grown in, the more chemical flocculant will be required to induce flocculation. Harvesting by chemical flocculation is a method that is often too expensive for large operations. Interrupting the carbon dioxide supply to an algal system can cause algae in it to flocculate on its own, which is called autoflocculation. Ultrasound based methods of algae harvesting are currently under development, and other, additional methods are currently being developed.[7][8]"

When I had my water turn green after setting up my aquarium in the garden, I just added a small bag of live Daphnia (water fleas) They love the algae and soon you might have more fleas then water in your tank. Once you add fish, they can feed on the Daphnia!

Just checked out the state of the nation, oh well at least the state of our pool.
We have had black plastic over the top for the last several weeks. Put in the barley straw extract too. Pulled the cover off yesterday and almost passed out with the stench. I assume the smell of rotting algae! The ph at 2:30 yesterday afternoon was 6.4 down from about 8.8. Nitrates and nitrites 0ppm, and ammomia perhaps somewhere between 0-.25. Still a mass of green ookiness, but lots of insect larvae. Yummy.
Have had the pump and done a backwash.

Got a fantastic present of BAss fingerlings from the one and only Steve for Christmas! Put them in a small fish tank for the interim.
I tink we will have lift off very soon!!!!!!!
