Nice list but I've got to argue about the reference to ugg boots. I dont mind wearing mine in public but I take offence to being considered a dag (even if Athena would argue about that one)

Yes our tv shows do suck I am sorry.. But damn it some of your shows suck too. What kinda respectable person submits their kids to Hi-5 holy crap...

I have spent quite a large amount of time in Australia. I spent 6 months there in 2002.

I think the water issues in Australia bar none are downright bad. No idea what you guys are going to do about it either as last I heard Sydney goers were hellbent on dehydrating them self through not allowing Desal.

As for the USA bad things?

Were Americans
We have Firearms

No in seriousness I think firearms are not a bad thing. But thats another debate.

Look I love both the USA and Australia as for migration to either? Good luck I say the countries are Allies and close yet we are shut out of eachothers borders like criminals "longterm stay" we must prove we will not be a drain on society and have some kinda crazy doctorate that meets the point system.

I say shove that. Do a exchange program. I offer my slot as citizen worker to Joe Blow Australian. He takes it I take his slot no fuss no muss. I get visa he/she gets visa. I can stay as long as I want if Joe Blow heads back the next Jim Bob takes his slot and I stay.

It would work I think.. No harm done and we would get to see and experience the respective countries. But instead we have the sphincter clamp down and say NO NO!! Can you tell I am one that is not qualified to go to Australia Longterm?

I Feel your pain SD. My Bro married an Ohio girl, whom he met in China. They got married in China, and then in America to make sure all the laws were firm. She is pregnant now after three years marriage. Yet despite them both having the prerequisites, are finding it an impossible quagmire of paperwork. The only one who's getting in is the kid, he can go either way, but permanent residency, or citizenship is still a long way off. he's applied to live in the US, and she's applied to live in Aust. They say the first to say yes is where they're going to live the rest of their lives!

So don't think Marrying an Aussie chick will solve your problems, cos it's probably make you ore depressed by not being able to stay with her. (Unless you both move to China :-) )

I just say its a farce that we are such close allies and we are so terrible at allowing allied people in eachothers nation... Yet Asylum Seekers?!?! NO PROBLEM!! come drain us to death.. Yet jim bob who means well wants to work their butt off in construction or whatever trade wishes to go either way. No dice man you are a drain on our economy. Go drain your own.. BLEED IT DRY!! thats the mentality and I think it needs to stop.

Australia, UK, Canada and USA should be FRIENDLY and allow open borders for people to move about and work as they please. I mean take a reality check how many people are going to want to move around like that anyway. I doubt its many due to family or whatever reason. Its not large numbers I do not think. At least between developed nations. Open the doors for china, india, indonesia, african nations sure it will FLOOD due to them wanting to get a better life.

Its a farce as I said before.

The official language is now English. We do however have 11 (yes eleven) other "official" languages, including Afrikaans, Zulu, Zhosa etc, but English is now used for all commercial, administrative, judicial and legal purposes. Afrikaans has taken a back seat since the ANC came into power and is not heard much anymore other than in traditional Afrikaans towns.

mmmm, probably a bit unfair for me to have said this as a large percentage use Afrikaans as their home language, but still, not as prevalent (or official) as it used to be.
