mmm, I would want to know where the sawdust came from. Is it from a sawmill where they saw chemically treated wood? I believe the same concern is present when selecting sawdust to use as a smoking agent when smoking fish.

Interestingly, there is also one type of tree/ wood that fish don't like, i'm sure i read it on a pond site somewhere, but buggered if i could ever find it again!

Monya, let us know how you get on at soladome. I went there about a month ago as part of my initial investigations into aquaponics, they have a mini backyard system for sale, but I didnt ask about prices for fish or food. Ask them if they will give discount for members of this forum.

What does everyone think about using these.... Portuguese Millipeads

http://www.csiro.au/resources/ps1rs.html

... as fish food. Someone I know has a property infested with them and could get me half a bucket of them at a time. They do release an odour when they are distressed but it would be interesting if fish would still eat them.

sound like a go-er

the smelly defense of the tiger worms doesn't seem to bother the fish ;)

my sp nor goldies will touch them, i get a few falling into the pond every now and then, and they just sink to the bottom and drown, maybe if you made them more appealing, like dipping them in fish oil or something.....or starve them so they are really hungry and will eat anything (might be an aquired taste)
