Steve, your comment re cheap pumps....very true....It is hard to go from 140.00 to 280.00 for a pump, the household accounts manager is a bit hard to convince, but the difference in quality and reliability makes the 280.00 Italian stuff much lower cost in the long run.
I am using 2 x 120.00 ones at the moment in my small system. Setting up a med system now based on a 600 ltr fish tank. My med size Jades need a med size home urgently.

Aqua,
Looks like the pump will handle standard Philmac connectors. they are just the larger screw in black fittings.

I got one of the new Italian jobs from Murry and took the connector to the local hugal & hoile. The guy tried to help but gave up and said he had nothing that would connect it to a 40mm pvc.

I kept looking and found a philmac elbow that fitted the pump, which then let me attach a 40mm pvc conncector to the elbow - wasn't really that hard, but the guy obviously hadn't been trained in service delivery...

I can post a picture later if you want.

Hi FizzyJ, I would be keen to get the exact name and size of the fitting so I can send it out with future pumps, if you can let me know .

Glad the pumps got to WA ok

Murray,
Will do, but it really depends upon the setup people are planning on using it for.

For me I had a heap of 40mm pvc pipe lying around so I wanted to get fittings to match it. If I were to just use 25mm poly pipe the original fitting would have been fine. I also didn't think (or know) if 25mm poly would allow for the capacity of the pump.

Will make a post when I get home from work.

Damn this site - it is distracting me from working...

Murray,
The diameter of the thread on the pump is 32mm or 1 1/4 inch.

I used a 1 1/4 inch to 1 1/2 inch converter and then a 1 1/2 inch elbow, which I could then put the converter to 40mm pvc. See picture below.

The 40mm pvc appears to be over the top, so if you are going to supply a threaded adapter, I would suggest just a straight 32mm to 32mm adapter.

Regards
FJ
