So are tilapia still legal in WA? I know most APers are environmentally friendly ,but noone is perfect (excepting thee and me ,and even thee is a little queer!) sorry just got carried away with one of my moms old sayings! . Id love to have tilapia in my AP system but weve introduced so many pests and weeds into australia (blackberries lantana fireweed carp etc CANE TOADS! I think we have to be very careful to look after our environment. Some things (cactoblastis)for prickly pear worked but rabbits, foxes did not! We had no hooved animals ,such as goats camels etc were introduced by US. I know I live in the lucky country where we live off the sheeps, cows back . Then mining came along .We have one of the sunniest ,windiest lands in the world so why dont we make use of solar and wind power ,not to mention tidal power , rather than nuclear? Think Ill take my anti depressants now and go try to catch some black bream 4 my AP :D  PS I only use my computer for AQUAPONICS!!!!!! BYAP RULES
Colin from Esperance heading off to ((hopefully) catch some black bream with unbarbed hooks an esky and aerator! :D

Hi Niloc...

PM me .... regards fish.

Aside from messing around with pop and rock music I am recently involved in setting up Martial arts (Karate) class for teenagers at my local High School.

Very difficult to sing low notes when catching a good punch to the goolie regions!

PM me regards fish...

Best to ya

Johnnie

Legality--check your local fish and game government agency. Laws and penalties vary quite widely.

Now that I have trimmed the male's lip, the females are more willing to be near him. iow, they are not stacked on top of each other in the opposite corner. There's a little wave-making at this point, but none of the gals are hanging out in the love shack yet.

Sadly for me the eight that I have left hang together but no kissy no huggie. I'm thinking the odds of them being all Male are pretty low so I'd guess water conditions are not enough to their liking that they feel a new generation would do well. Any thoughts? Of the eight one is the big boy. Is it important to have gravel for them to display their landscaping talents prior to the dating phase?

Well, I think it's most important to install a loveshack, but I wouldn't think gravel would be as important. Secure a 2-gallon flowerpot on its side so the dominant male can stake it out. Bring the temps up to mid-80's or even upper 80's. Of course what do I know, since there's no kissy no huggie here either.

I think that they have long memories, most females do. Oops, sexist remark Slaps self on cheeks - Ouch.
My Tilapia females used to come out a lot, but since catching all of the fish to separate the males, the females (back in the aquarium) won't come out while anyone is around. They just hide in the pipes and under the rocks or behind the big roots in the aquarium.

LOL, I still trust your methods even it they are taking a break. I won't be heating the water above 70 anytime soon so I'll continue to believe thats the cause for me. I have two pots in the tank no gravel, pots are on seperate sides of the tank. Just a bit chillie, they hang at the small heater most of the time, warming their backsides I spose. Mine are skittish as all get out.

That's the way my fish are. They are skittish and the 72°F water is not good enough they all stay by the heater sucking in the warm water.

Yeah, water in the low 70's just isn't going to do it for them. Maybe I'll put on some mood music for them.
