it's very easy to talk about environmental concerns while times are good like they are now, but watch that focus disappear if times get tough.

Very true Timmy....

That's one of the reasons I'm so disappointed with the current government...

This country (indeed the world) has had a decade of the best economic times in at least 60 years....

We've been flush with money..... have they acted to address environmental questions of climate change, general pollution, alternative energy research........ nooo.... not to any real degree of commitment anyway...

Have they address critical shortfalls in infrastructure in this country, like national roads, fast rail links, general overhaul of the rail freight network, hospitals (we all know the forthcoming demand with an aging population), universties and schools, the skills crisis in general etc etc....

No...... instead they've spent $3 billion on searrching for WMDs that weren't there, winning the hearts and minds of a population that doesn't want us there, flattening the infrastructure of a country instead of rebuilding it etc.... and heightening the growth of terrorism while lessening the security of our own country

Spent $300 million plus on advertising and defending legislature that they didn't campaign on and which noone wants or benefits from etc etc ...

And they call that good economic mangement

I call it a betrayal of both this country and our childrens future.

And yep.... we're going to be able to fix all the problems we know are going to come up in the near future if the worlds economies go bad, or if the demand from China suddenly drops significantly....

Just who's kidding who here !

I disagree with the idea that the economic's can't "save" us. Think of the number one limiting factor in achieving what you want in life, and the answer is usually money. If you have the money, you can solve most issues eventually.

lol who said times are good now? maybe for you, I seem to see alot off homeless and struggling families on the tv and in the papers........i dont think money can solve most problems.......you been smoking one too many lol......the rich dont give a shite......they(liberal voters) will only continue to line their own pockets....AND if times are so good right now why isnt much being done....why do we all seem to be waiting....economically minded ppl and governments will only ever be economically minded.........you seriously think costello the joke cares about the environment?...no....he's a liberal ( a white collar representative)....and as for money being the number one factor in achieving what u want in life thats funny.......just look at what happened to Crazey John ( may he rest in peace)....money cant buy happiness and a long life
