Yeah, she's an old ripper. Needs a squirt of ether to get her going in the mornings, and she ain't no green machine (blows out a bit of smoke when under load ) but for a 46 year old tractor, it goes well. Kids love it too. At Em's birthday we did hay rides with the tractor and trailer, which were very popular. An appreciating asset too. As long as it keep running, they seem to be getting dearer not cheaper  The old owners paid $3k for it ages ago, now I would look at around $4 - 5k!

Cheap to buy and cheap to repair/service. I have replaced both the fuel tank and radiator on mine. Blew the radiator trying to get a tree out of the ground. Drag chain and landcruiser had no problems though it was probably loosened by the tractor.

that is so cool. My goats will love ya forever, they keep getting tangled around the star picket. I have them tethered near some blackberries. Anyo0ne who says goats don't love blackberries hasn't seen mine lol. they walk straight past the decent grass and eat weeds and blackberries and gorse flowers too. Great weed control without sprays.

monya,

yeah they work well, they can still get tangled if lots of grass gets caught up in the swivel. But being stainless steel you bang them in real easy with a hammer and they pull out by hand. But the goats will never pull them out coz they cant pull up when the chain is fully extended.

today we finished and painted the stands for the growbeds and finished putting up the 3 sides of the greenhouse. it measures 9 x 5.4 m, the sides are 1.5m high, with the hoops gonna slide into the top of the posts. The sump has been dug. We used the mattock then dug out the loose dirt with a front end loader we have borrowed to help put the system together, and with 8000 litres of gravel, we really need it  The nft channels have arrived, but no end caps, or drain ends, hopefully they are getting delivered tomorrow. We are having a workshop here tomorrow, with some people we have met thru the local natural resource centres, and hopefully we will have fish in this system by tomorrow night. The sump is 3.6m x 2.1 x about 1.2 at the deep end and 600 at the shallow end. I think it should hold the volume of the entiure flood and will allow the fish tank to be full at all times. The beds will flood using an overflow syphon from the fT, with one pump in the sump.
At the moment it is completely pissing down, so we may just be rained out, time will tell.
