The oscilating trends that occur within your system sometimes become a spike of one of your n/rite n/rate ammo ph after a spike the trend to balance could begin to start. IMHO not a bad thing so long as you are not contributing to the spike eg. adding eccess food to many fish not enough biomass exchange.
Putting my hand up now for any additions to the principles I have just spoken about

Some pics taken today. As you can see, the UV filter worked wonders for the algae. The nitrites have come right down and the nitrates are on the up. Down to the last SP, but he's in really good nick. Much better news that a couple of days ago.

Levels are looking good at last.
Amonia=0
Nitrite=0.25
Nitrate=10
PH=7.6
Water is almost crytal clear now. :D

I bought some 16mm rubber grommets for reticulation application from Total Eden in WA. THey may have bigger ones. (do u get Total Eden in Vic? otherwise any other retic supplier or Clark Rubber.)
