hi all,

well some of you may be wondering where i have been over the last couple months. thought it was about time i let you guys know whats up.

about 6 weeks ago my wife and i found out that she is pregnant. we had only been trying for a matter of months before conception.

to all those who said my little men would never make it, in your face. haha.

so obviously my life has now changed for ever. so much for those sleep ins. good thing i had enough for a lifetime in my late teens to early 20's.

so to all you dad's out there. got any advice for me? what have i got myself into?

my wife and myself just hope the baby is happy and healthy. it's all we could ask for.

my wife's family has a history of miscarriage so it will be a nervous wait until the birth. wish us luck. hopefully another ap nut on the way. :)

When they're young they are so cute you could eat them.
When they're teenages you'll wish that you had.

Well done :sign12: :occasion9:

Congratulations and celebrations! What a wonderful thing it is, just keep your thoughts believing that all will be well and it will be, without a shadow of a doubt. Well done to all involved.

as for advice ..... get lots of sleep while you can, take your wife out while you still can easily (even though she might feel like a hippo and want to hide)

have lots of cuddles just the two of you

ohh and start saving extra cash it wont last long but it will all help

Congratulations, it is an exciting time of life. Just take things slowly and give her time and patience. She will need it. Emotions will run high and low for a few months (9 in fact ;) ) so just give her all of your love and understanding.

At least you are working on giving her the best vegetables money can't buy, from your AP system.

You had better get her away from the Big Smoke and out for some fresh country air on a regular basis.

Take all advice with a grain of salt. Each kid is different (even before birth). Have been through 6 births - each of them different. I have also been through 4 that didn't make it.
As I said, each is different. Anyone who says "I know exactly what you're going through" is either a liar or ill informed.

Congrats!

thanks everyone for the kind words and wisdom.

you guys have become somewhat of a surrogate family to me and for that i'm very thankful.

my partner and i have been doing a bit of reading on child birth. we have come to the conclusion that it would be best for the baby to be born at our house with the assistance of a friend who is a midwife.

we both feel hospitals are a frightening place to give birth given both our expiriences with them. some of the drug's used sound scary. there's no way we want to pump those chemical's into our baby. for this reason my wife will be doing it sober the whole time. for some reason our culture seems to believe that you can't give birth without a doctor and med's. perhaps it has something to do with the fact that those who are exposed to certain chemicals at birth are more likely to grow up drug dependent. we don't feel critical of those who opt for the medical model during childbirth, however we feel its time to break the cycle. sure there's a risk of complications at home but our gut tells us its how we should do it.

anyone have any expirience with home birth here?

thanks again.
