Electric Yellows are very prone to bloat, especially the small ones. Basically their eyes are too big for their stomachs. Cut back on the food. Grind the food up a bit and maybe look at some better quality food if you are using the cheap stuff.

Hi Fisho,

Your system looks great! :D You should be proud of it.

You'll prove your parents wrong! (It's fun too! I know, mine thought I was mad when I told them what I was doing! lol  )

Fisho, looks like you've got about 24 tommie plants there?

i reckon you might not have enough nitrates fro them all when they get going. But cross that bridge when you get to it :)

got 4x42litlre GB up and will be running tomorros
washed 100kg of blue metal then gave up for the day. any pro APers in perth want to come over and show me how to do it properly, im still new at this ^^

but i have found out that i have a internal parasite in my fish (bloat) :{
and they dont sell medication to fix this problem any more
i hope the 2 little guys fight through and live.

andrew

I heard once that mis-diagnosis of fish ailments and subsequent "treatment" was a leading cause of fish death.

Luck the fish shop didn't have any meds and that tim knows his fish :)

there are 12ish toms and 12ish snap beans
just finished washing some more gravel today and added mixed letters seed
in a GB to see how seed go

thnx for the advice timc i have been feeding them some abit in high protein
fish food to produce more nitrates and qrow the skinnier yellows. i usually feed them a vege base food (sera flora) but did not know if the fish by it self is enough to feed the plants any1 use only vege base foods???

and yes so far my AP set up has been fun to build once some thing start to
work out you will see me jumping around like a little school girl ^^

sitting next to my pond looking down at my fishies while eating
fresh AP toms with a slice of cheese on it with a touch of pepper.
i can see the future already ^^

if the nutrients level go too low with low plant growth it will give me an
excuse ^^ to buy more fishies

Hi Andrew, well done mate!

Looking forward to seeing the growbeds all planted up etc. Are you putting them on top of or behind the retaining wall?

Regards

Johnnie

the retaining wall gives me room of 1.2m to the wall and is 4m in length
and the GB are about 60x45x30cm, so it around 40cm before the retaining wall.

i want to fill up that wall with GB, that would be around 10ish tubs and
have some more GB on the other side of the shed (around 10 more) that is still only 800 litres of GB. by the time i finish setting all of them up i thing the weather will be right to start growing trout.

If it was my garden, I'd be betting on Slugs and/or snails. I've had them cut plants off at ground level

What level is the bean bed filling to on the flood cycle. Could it be rot from too high a water level?
