this is an indoor chilli plant in my kitchen, any ideas? there is a very sticky residue over them all too.

Eeewww! I don't know what they are but they don't look friendly!

There seems to be an awful lot of them, when did they arrive?

EDIT: LOL! I thought they looked like aphids but that would be to obvious! Apparently not. 'Course the fuzzy pics aren't helping.

look like aphids to me.

Look a bit like mealy bugs.... hard to tell....

i noticed them about 3 days ago, and like all bad things they replicate far too quickly................now where did i put that asgard anti-replicator weapon.......

yep, looked up aphid, thats them.

the beaty of having the plant in a small pot and not having any fish near by is that i just dunked it upside down in a sink with morning fresh in it for about 30 seconds and gave the leaves a wipe down while duncked! Good rinse with fresh water and a rinse of the actual dirt (not that i dunked the actual pot) and its looking happy again LOL

Aphids can recur, so monitor the plant and keep it isolated from other plants.

will aphids attack most plants? i have it next to two strawberries that are currently fruiting.....................

Hi Steve, make sure your camera is set to the "flower" setting for closeups of plants.

Steve, I've found that aphids only attack fast growing things and new shoots. I've never seen them on strawberries.
I've tried nettle tea on aphids and that seemed to remove most of them. Could've worked even better if I'd let nettles ferment in the water for a bit.

Agreed. Aphids like tender juicy young leaves. Some plants are more susceptible than others.

Seasol kills them, but only those that get sprayed..need to continue the dose over a few days.

I got a bad case of aphids when the weather started to warm up (similar to yours), used the seasol to control them until I started seeing predators (hover flies) buzzing around the GH then stopped using the seasol - aphids well under control now with the hover flies and such

what you really need is some predatory bugs such as preying mantis'.

then the aphids become a benifit as they sustain life for the predators. if you use kill the the aphids then you in effect kill the predators.

its all about creating the natural balance which is really what ap is all about imo.
