I had some more goodies given to me yesterday. Three pumps, two underwater 12vdc lamps, and various piping bits and joins. Two of the pumps don't work, I tore one of them down and the rotor is cracked badly someone must of let it run dry. The one that works pumps really well but I don't have ant specs on it. I wrote the manufacturer (little giant) to see if they can give me that information.

Hi dan little giant probley one of the better ones on the market They should have spares

And Little Giant has great customer service. I already received a reply from a rep:

Thank you for your inquiry concerning our pumps. That pump has a shut off 13'
and has a max flow rate of 475 GPH. Again, thank you for your interest in Little
Giant products and should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact
us at 1-888-956-0000, or 1-800-701-7894.

Lots of stuff been happening here lately. I was pleased with the hard work that my goldfish had performed this summer that I decided to take them on a fishing holiday a week and a half ago. They did a fantastic job bringing some big, fat, flathead, channel, and blue catfish to the table. About 50 people enjoyed the efforts of those 15 large goldfish. Just before the trip to the lake I had moved everything into the basement. Since then I have gotten everything all lined up and running well. During the transition I took a shortcut and did not wash my gravel for two growbeds.

Wash your gravel. Wash your gravel. Wash your gravel ya lazy bum :x

Way to much in the way of fines. It all settled in the sump and the first fish tank in the pumps outflow so was not too bad a chore to clean up. But would have been easier to do things proper like.

first some pictures of some of the catfish we caught.

both the small 13 convict chiclid system now with two growbeds and the larger still with just 3 goldfish system had similar test readings:
H2O temp 21
pH 7.6
ammonia 0
nitrite 0

The larger system needs some fish badly. Only three big goldfish powering the four growbeds at this time. And with all the plants and seeds I have just put in that won't be enough. :(

first grow bed from left chives, onions and sage are planted. The second has five different hot peppers. Third has some basil and one patchouli. The one at far right has some broccoli.

I am hoping to get up to Kansas City to get some fish fry within the next week or so but not sure yet what type of fish I will end up bringing back home.

Yeppers a venturi. It made for some fun today after some comets got sucked up and stopped up the pipe.
Lost about 50 gallons.

Amazing how fast we can react to an AP problem

How deep were the cuts on the venturi pipe? I made mine about 1/2" high and about 2" long - makes it difficult for fish to get underneath, then again I won't be putting in small fish into the main tank until they are too big for the slits (now I've seen what can happen  )

both systems in the basement are doing swell. no swings of any sort nitrates hang in there around 40 ammonia and nitrite 0 pH 7.6 and steady so no problems. noticed some serious algae growth where one of the light fixtures is against the glass fish tank. so cleaned it up a little. noticed slight yellowing of leaves on stevia and pogostemon cablin and one pepper. made cuttings of the stevia and pogostemon cablin three days ago. hope they survive...
