Talk about an oops!

**************************************************************

SOMETHING FISHY'S GOING ON HERE: The state of Colorado, assisted by the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, have been working since the 1970s to
try to restore the Colorado State Fish, the greenback cutthroat trout,
to rivers in the Rockies. The University of Colorado just did a study
to see how they're doing. The result: DNA analysis shows that the fish
being stocked in the rivers all that time isn't the greenback cutthroat
trout, but rather the Colorado River cutthroat trout. (Denver Rocky
Mountain News)

...In related news, the Colorado legislature has
introduced a bill to name the Colorado River cutthroat trout the
state's Official Fish.

***************************************************************

hmmm, I wonder how much money has been blown restocking the wrong species! So rather than actually save the state fish, let's just change the state fish!

lol, oh my wife pointed out that I need to add credit for this story to the ... www.thisistrue.com website and email list. But I figured the members here would appreciate it.

However, it's also been pointed out, that the last bit about changing the state fish is unverified and may be the punch line to the story.

I hate to spread poor info.

As for them looking similiar, it would seem so, especially if it took a DNA test to verify what they were stocking!
