Hi, I'm a newbie.
Before I read heaps of books I would like to have your opinion.
I have no aqua/hydroponics, but a soil garden.
I think about raising plants from cuttings and / or seedlings for a part time earning. As I'm not allowed to transport soil out of our area, I thought about a aquaponic/hydroponic system.
Is it possible to set up the system with reused/reclaimed materials? I don't want to spent heaps of money. And what about the growing media?
Does plants grow in big tanks like I saw in the pictures or is it possible growing them in individual containers?
How much money do I need to set up a DYO cheap system?
Do you raise the plants under roof orin a shadehouse? We're in SE QLD.

Welcome alokin. Can I suggest you have a bit of a poke around the forum. The answers to all the questions you ask will be evident once you have had a bit of a read. To start with, maybe look at some of the members systems - start with those that are summariesd in the systems by size area. I'll post the links in a minute.

Hi alokin and welcome to the forum, if you have a look *here* , there is a lot of systems from members ranging from small to large.

Have a read and work out how you want to attack this, then we may be able to help with some answers :D

And another hello from me also Alokin......

There's a fewpeople here on the forum which have incorporated seedling and/or potted plants and propagation into AP systems... directly or as satellites.....

NJH was an avid collector and propagator of orchids and native plants.

Search the forum and then post specific questions and I'm sure there'll be plenty of help offered.

setup a big worm farm, 2m square or so. it will use all your own scrapes (non onion/citrus of course) and possibly your neighbours

has the benifits of being the perfect seedling mix and being sterile and ant free. i swear that stuff will grow anything. i had a bunch of cuttings i didn't think were going to take and i threw them away. came back a month later to find them all shooting like mad and growing on their side where i tossed them on the ground.
