Things very quiet on the fish front today. Don't really expect 2 see them up looking for food, til the water gets above its current 12-13 C. Having a close look, there is a ton of mossie larvae in there, so i am sure they won't go hungry!

it was fun watching dads yesterday but were no where to be seen today! I popped in agoldie who was more adventurous and tey all came out from under the pump and started following him. Also don't seem to be interested in food but they were scouring the biofilm yesterday, maybe there is plent of natural food for now?

reckon ur right, i am not concerned, plenty of stuff in the water. John seemed to think 14C was a trigger point for feeding so we will wait and see what happens when we get to that.

400 at 90c each. They were 80c each forever but he graded them 2 weeks ago and they are a bit bigger than they were heading into winter.

Hey LB. The tank temp has been hovering b/n 11 and 13, just below the feeding trigger point. It got up to 15 late today but with the cold snap i expect it to drop again.
I haven't really seen them since i put them in the water but the single leaf duckweed and mossie larvae seem to be disappearing. With the water being cloudy, i will only see them when they are ready to feed. Been sprinkling a little food in each morning, for my conscience more than anything. Just need a few warm days to get them going but i spose we will be complaining about the heat soon enough.
A guy at Tafe got his the week b4 me. His tank is in a gh, water temp 18 and they are feeding fine. Howz things with you?

Got home just on dusk thinking I had missed the feeding boat. Threw a bit in and the surface water came to life. Can't say how pleased I am.
Feeding is a bit tricky cause I have wound the sump back. It pumps most of the hour and I don't want to feed while it is pumping. Feed time is therefor about 10 minutes b4 the hour and there is a 10 minute window there, where no pumps are going at all. They are into the tucker lickity split. Bodes well for warmer weather. The guy I got them off told me they were tough little buggers and it seems he is right.

Got some slight bubble scum (protein) on the water surface but will skim that 2moro, it eats O2 like lollies.

Been a bit fiddly getting the gb taps all filling at the same rate but finally have that sorted. Nealy time to bang some seedlings in, but need to get the gh cover up first.

The silvers from my original trial are loving water temps of 22C, with heater help. They are very active and all over their food. A couple of them are nudging 300grams I reckon and we may have a pre chrissy treat in store there.
