Wierd formatting eh!
But the thing I don't get, is why it went to that!
Thought there would be a million other things first!
Oh well just a quirk of ether.

I used the correct spelling when I did my search, which is why I didn't find it. Reason it is so high on the ranks is because only so many people have used the incorrect spelling. A GA page is top if using the correct spelling.

So I found out yesterday that in 2 weeks I will be out of a job! :evil3:

My job has been to install energy efficient lightbulbs into peoples home. It is offered for free to residents of NSW, working off of a carbon trading scheme. How it works is that I replace peoples lights and the company that I am contracted to claims the carbon credits which they sell for a profit.

So why am I going to be out of a job?

The NSW government put the carbon trading scheme into place. The scheme is supposed to run until 2009.

Because this useless excuse for a Federal government :cussing: has failed to take any responsibility for global warming (I refuse to call it climate change. That is terminology created by the political spin doctors!) and have repeatedly failed to make any targets or commit to any carbon credit scheme, the businesses which have been purchasing the carbon credits are now refusing to buy them.

The profit from selling these credits went to paying for more bulbs as well as paying my wages. With no income then the company has no choice but to shut down operations.

So here I am in an area of high unemployment, fighting to get a job because some little moron in Canberra :violent1: is more concerned with looking after his friends in the petroleum and mining companies than he is about the environment that we all have to live and breath in.

And no doubt I will not qualify for any dole payments while I try to find a job because I foolishly have been saving money to try to get a deposit for some land.

I am so frustrated that we, the people, have to tolerate these idiots who are supposed to be representing us! :hmph:

So there is my rant. Do I feel better? Recent trips to a councilor who has been helping me with my bouts of melancholy told me that I need to learn to get things out rather than bottle them up. Hopefully this rant will help me let go.

If that doesn't work, I guess I will just have to go down and watch my goldfish swim around.

Simon :color:

Simon I tend to fully agree with you....

One about the theraputic value of having a rant....

and two about the incredible frustrating treatment of citizens of this country by the current government.....

Chuck the bastards out....... I can do that.....

Sorry to hear about that Simon.

Regarding the government - do you really think that much will change if there is a change of Government, or is it all rhetoric. I'd like to think that we could turn a corner on these very serious issues, but regardless of what government is in power the lobby groups are not going to change are they and they are very powerful??

VB,

I have no doubt that if there is a change of government there will be little change.

All we can hope for is that the new government actually follow through on their claim to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. If they do that then there will be a lot more pressure on them to take action regarding their responsibilities towards the environment.

Simon

I get the feeling that the only way that real change is going to occur in the area of environmental sustainability is if some of the minor parties who have these matters at the top of their priority list end up with more say - and what are the chances of that. I have always liked the environmental policies of the Greens, but have to admit I am not overly supportive of their social policies.

Agreed VB, and I often lodge a "protest" vote by voting "Greens"....

Usually I vote strictly for independants..... but this time I will make my vote a deliberate and positive one to expel the current government...

Sadly the "Greens" sometimes do funny things with preferences....

I always allocate my preferences myself, that way someone else has not done my thinking for me
