An article in todays local newspaper talks about a new food fad from Texas that made its debut at the Kansas State Fair this year. Fried Coke. It began in October of last year at the Texas State Fair by Abel Gonzales a Dallas computer analyst. To make fried Coke you add Coca-cola syrup to funnel cake batter which is dripped into hot oil and cooked until the peanut sized pieces are golden brown. Then the morsels are put into a Coke cup before Coke syrup is drizzled on top then powdered sugar is dusted on top.

deep fried candy bars, deep fried cheesecake are other entries at the fair this year. Previous years have seen deep fried Twinkies and deep fried Oreos. Decadence at its best.

On the healthier side you can get a stuffed cucumber. Made by peeling all but one end of a giant cuke, hollowing it out with an apple corer. Into the hole is stuffed your choice of crab salad, chicken salad or ranch dressing.

Or how about a roast beef sundae? Using a sundae dish, you put mashed potatoes topped with roast beef and gravy then add shredded cheese and cap it with a cherry tomato.

It is making me hungry....

I do chocolate pizza
standard pizza base
then 1/4 of peaches all over
top with strawberries
then drizzle melted chocolate over the top
sprinkle with brown sugar
cook and serve with ice cream
dont knock it till you try it

yeah, fair food is all about how 'bad' can you make it! One of the big things here lately has been 'Deep fried Australian Potatoes'. Basically, giant potato wedges deep fried and then smothered in cheese, gravy and whatever else.

But the one 'bad' thing I miss is 'Poutine'. It's a French Canadian dish. It's french fries with brown gravy and cheese curd. Oh yeah. Chips and gravy itself is a good thing, but then add cheese curd and you have heart attack on a plate!

i can vouch for F&F's pizza, sounded weird but tasted GOOD

Yeah for an American knowing Poutine. I love that stuff used to pack it away as a kid up on the ski hills. Now i don't know how well i could do that

Lol, yeah I'm not the 'typical' American... I've lived all over North America. I'm a dual citizen and spent most of my childhood in Canada.

I wish more Americans knew about Poutine. The few food things I miss from 'home' are Poutine and Perogies. Again, fried, but with onions and sour cream and a side of bacon. mmmmmm. (I need a drooling smiley)
