Aquamad, There is no fault (blame) just tradgic accidents. Everyone has a clear picture of the danger after the accident. Everyone is an expert after the the event. None of this will alter the love you have for Cheyenne. I wish my wife and I could be there with you and your family right now. Grief is a personal journey, it is differant for everyone. Though we share with you the tragedy of losing a child in the same way, we do not know your personal grief. Yet we know the journey, and we are with you and your family in spirit standing beside you. Love is the light shinning at the end of this tunnel. It is the only guide through the dark maze of grief. There will be many stumbling blocks along the way. This inquest is one of those blocks. Blame? there is no blame, just love and understanding and a sharing of the journey to help you through.

We are always here if you want to talk.

Love Brian and Mary Hobbs

Aqua,
I fully understand the pain and frustration this bureaucratic crap is raising in you and your wife. All I can say is try and support each other the best you can.
Now as to the inquest, I would like to make the following suggestions to you;
1) Hire a lawyer. Many people think that you have something to hide, or that you are guilty of something when you retain legal counsel, but the honest truth is that if you wait until after the inquest begins you have waited too long.
2) If your lawyer recommends it, have an expert evaluate the site and make an evaluation in relation to the risks and precautions you had present on the day of the tragic event. The coroner, the Police and the child protective services people are not experts in relation to relevant safety precautions in industrial or agricultural settings. If they were, no families would be operating any farms, small businesses, traveling or even own pets!
3) Contact your local elected officials. Many of them will not want to get involved with an ongoing investigation, but if you make them aware of your circumstances you will have an allie who can provide support in the press, if that becomes necessary.
4) Prepare for your counter assault in the press. The mud raking, slime sucking filth that the majority of the press are these days will attempt to paint you and your wife as careless, uncaring, odd balls who allowed thier child to die tragically (we know that isn't the case, but the public doesn't).
Other than this all I can tell you is hang in there buddy! You know the truth, and you have to fight to make sure that the truth is told, not some contrived story by some power mad, glory seeking appointed/elected officials.

Kevin

My heart goes out to you AM. No one should have to endure the meddling of the press or government officials with their own agendas. Be strong.

David, Our heart has been with you since the tragic day of your loss. I understand how you are feeling. Jeff's and my first child died at birth after only 5 hrs. of life. He was hardly gone and the police came to investigate. It put our family in a short tail spin, but all turned out well. The main thing you must not do is get bitter. Bitterness eats us up like a cancer. You will always have the memories of your beautiful girl. Nothing can take that away from you. I got 10 minutes with the body of our boy before they took him, but I will never forget how he looked in my arms, a handsome little guy that has been used so much in my life and the life of others. That was 19 years ago and 4 more children later. All things do work out. You have lots of love, support and prayers. Keep us informed as we keep you in our hearts.
Joyce

I have made more headway with the memorial... I finished the fence around the pool a while back and have since completed the water feature/waterfall at the head of the pond/stream system... It cost me a chunk of skin off of my one finger when I was not fast enough to remove my hand from between 2 large rocks, but that's just the way life goes... a band-aid and a beer later I was back at it :) I am now just waiting for pay day in order to purchase the electrical cabling to go from the pool shed down to the ponds - so as I wait for pay day to creep around I am getting the conduit ready so that it should go fast once I have the cable...
Once the cable in laid I can get the plumbing finished and the bridge built, after which I can finish the rock work and then add the garden all around the water feature...
I added a little composted soil and mulch to one spot where there will be no more work done... cant do much more untill the electrics are sorted out... Just need time and money...
The hope is to have it finished before the one year mark comes around!

Looks good Dave - the third shot really gives an idea of what it will look like when finished.

If I had all the bits I need to finish it all off I could finish this in about 2 full days... I can see the finished product in my head when I look at the shots but just need to be patient...
