Thanks for all the nice comments: D

I got it all plumed last night and timed the dump it started to trickle for 1 1/2 mintues and full flow for 6 1/2 minutes and trickle for another 2 minutes and then stops until the GB has filled again. Haven't timed the fill yet but I think it takes about 12 to 15 minutes. I like the times but have no idea what optimal would be? I'm using the U siphon without an air tube for a clean break. Maybe I could use the air tube if I wanted to increase the cycle time :| Don't know.

About twice as long to fill as to empty sounds about average Bkaus....

So that's about 4 flood/drain cycles an hour , assuming you're running continously.

With your growbed about half the volume of your tank, and half the volume of your growbed being taken up by your gravel then that makes it roughly a quarter of your tank volume per flood/drain cycle by my reckoning.....

If so that means with 4 cycles per hour you are turning over your tank volume once an hour..... plenty I think.....

What do others think?

Are you thinking of running continuously or on a timer?

Great work BK! It looks really great, and it's nice you can get the kids involved. My 5 year old helped me dig a hole for a fish pond yesterday! Must be digging season.
