It looks awesome. But there is one serious design flaw. You have too many blue tubs, and must switch things around so that blue tubs are not next together. Please alternate them or the anaerobic bacteria will congregate in the large expanses of blue. They are attracted to blue wavelengths.

I think TT has thought through that problem Janet and intends to mount alfoil pyramid hats at appropriate spacings above the affected tubs.... thus bending and altering the light spectrum more toward the red end :D

Touche one and all. Took 2-3 hours to get all tubs in the appropriate spot, so aint changing nuttin!
Decided to use 7mm blue metal for my gb media. Get this, washed (in bore water), dust free and $35/cubic metre. Will be a bit easier to work with than the 20mm scoria in trial setup. Oh, and i won't be washing it myself.
Fishtank siting and pipework to and from, happening Sunday. Will run the system for a week and get fish wknd 8/9Sept.

But what if Martha Stewart should show up? I think it is better if the blue were together.

Do some blue metal and some scoria .Scoria is porous and will hold moisture better also one with something light for carrots ect

Been a busy boy.
40mm elbows and pressure pipe out of the sump into the garage and tank.
40mm pressure pipe up and out of the tank, with a 25mm tee on a ball valve back to the tank for aeration. Pipe out thru shed wall, expanding to 50mm pvc (bc we had some), elbows and joins. The system has been closed!

Have decided to use the pump currently in spa and will buy another pump from nightingales for the sump. Should get it all running next day or so, then need to get the gravel in and booya. I expect a bit of mucking around with adjusting timing/flow rates but that will be fun.

Pics to come but must sleep.Tired.

Ready to rock. Got my sump pump today from our friends at nightingales. 210lts/minute and more head than...well.. too early for that gag! 89bucks when the cheapest comparable here in Geelong is $275, the pump, not the head. Only handles 3mm solids but water is returned from gbs and we have a filter from first sump to second. Gravel satdy and here fishy fishy next week.

A second pump in the sump would be good insurance

At 89 bucks it will be good insurance and won't break the bank.
