Another outer flouter attempt, made of improvised (and compromised :( ) parts.....

Am not happy with it, the sprinkler bit restricts the flow too much, and it leaks at the pivot point, think it was worse then my first few attempts

anyone used them? .... reckon they might do the job??

surely you'd be able to create a seal with the barrell and a fulcrim effect?

haven't found these locally, so when there is enough stuff i want off here to make it worthwhile i will see if its any good

Yeah, thats the plan :D I don't think inventing/experimenting/mucking around is very environmentally friendly though  All the trips to the hardware store for that one bit you still need, "modifying" a bunch of things which renders them useless  and so on......

Oh Daniel,

That's spoiling all the fun.

Half my weekends seem to be spent in B looking for something to modify for my latest crazy idea

Here's a thought for the "outer-flouter"-

Take a PVC "X" and connect pipes to opposing sides. Cap these pipes - This is your fulcrum. It can either balance on a flat area, or better yet, on detents between blocks.
Take a PVC pipe and connect it to the 2-liter bottle as done previously.
Take the remaining section and connect a length of PVC, an "L", and a hose bib. Use a flexible garden hose to connect to the drain point of your GB. Hang your counterweights on the L or an extension of it to tip up the 2-liter bottle.

The advantages of this are:
1- no bearings to wear out (except the PVC caps that can easily be replaced)
2- By extending the bottom part of the X, you can make the ground become your limiter.

I like your idea, and am thinking of incorporating it into my real system (when I finally get it going). :sigh:

Thanks Greededo, Sounds like it should work, when i have time to burn, i will start work on it. I am going to focus on getting more gbs online (with autosyphons) first, as i will be adding a couple of hundred babie fantails (currently 3ish weeks old) when they get big enough (hopefully in under a month)

I qualify once again for the flood club loosing about 1600litres, luckily it was from the bottom tank which i have been using as a sump for the time being, so the one small goldie was alittle bit battred, but alive. And i discovered it just in time, if the pump came on for one more flood cycle i would have lossed it (probably cavitated for 8ish min's (out of 15min flood) but still works luckily....
