Thanks Les, but no I didn't buy it...think it was in VIC somewhere, originally a goat farm.

In fact nobody bid on it first time round, not sure if it went second time or not.

Kinda thought a farmer might have picked it up to supplement feed on a drought property.....

There's quite a few similar products around these days, just google "fodder shed" or similar.... I must have about haf a dozen bookmarks.

I am wondering if we got off track again?

I don't wanna be a pain but ....

I am getting so very very lost around here.

Can we set up a "whinger's" thread?

I love a good whinge!

To be honest with you, I really enjoy this site, I love the commeraderie, but I am finding it more and more difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.

I am finding it difficult to follow many threads, and because we diverge off topic too easily, I don't want to wade though chaff to get to the point.

Dear friends,

Is there any way we can keep on track?

Best wishes to ya all....

Johnnie

J7, i think this one is loosely on topic..............

I guess best we can do is clean threads with merit up periodically and post them as stickies. Jaymie et. al. have put considerable work into such.

But i can sympathise with you, can be hard, i i miss a day i'm stuffed. But i can't winge as i'm a regular offender / inciter ;)

Steve

Johnie - we set up the formal area as a response to the concerns that threads were going off track. Funny thing is that nobody seems to want to post their threads to that part of the forum. I reckon the reason for this is that people love to see others commenting on matters related to their systems, even if it does go off track a bit sometimes.

Where ya been - haven't seen ya for ages (now that is off topic  ).

Ive been looking into this a bit lately and found some info on using yellow lupins (including the 108 page pdf). There is also some interesting research on replacing fish oil feed content with canola and replacing some (or all) of the fish meal with rendered meat products.
Vegetable amaranth is another possible feed source as it has high lysine levels

Eggs would help up the protein (13%) and fat (10%) levels so could be quite useful....if you had enough of them and you were able to get rid of most of the water.

To increase the protein and lower the fat levels, only use half of the yolks. Eg if you use 8 eggs, discard 4 yolks. Also if you could blend the eggs with other ingredients, ie vitamins and the lupins, then dehydrate the eggs rather than cooking them. The fibre will hold it together, then run it through a spaghetti maker. Just like making egg noodles. Let it dry out and then break them up, and put into an air tight container.

If it has been known for a very long time that when the eggs are cooked some of the proteins actually break down. Thats why bodybuilders eat raw eggs.

Tim - are all the proteins in the white? I knew that the fat was in the yoke - but thought that a lot of the protein was probably there also with carbs in the white.

Depends on what your feeding to- remember australian natives need to have a high fat content (preferably animal sourced) in their feed. If you were mixing eggs (10% fat including water volume) with lupins (~5% fat) you would still need to shoot for a total of 10% fat and 40-45% protein

I think that there is still a bit of protein in the yolk. I think you just need to try a different mix each season. The only way to tell if there is too much fat is when you gut them. You could add anything to the mix really. Why not spinach or spiralina to give that lovely green colour. Crush up some multi-V, add some vitamin C to reduce oils in the water. Experiment.
