Have you cleaned the bottom and sides of your tank EKB?

Hi Fizzy, I did run a soft broom around the inner sides to see the effect - cleaned some dirt off which swirled around and was eventually sucked up by the venturi drain (tank has only been in service for about a month so not expecting too much rubbish on the sides).

Yeah mate, we have been doing a bit of communicating to try and see if we could combine both types and come up with a better method - like what he is doing and hopefully he will be supplying pics for all to see

Doing some plant experimenting, wife wanted to put some root vegies in the dirt garden so grabbed a few :D
...beetroot...onions....baby carrots - not sure of the outcome but gotta give it a go

I could only get the greens to grow well on the onions, maybe because of my cycle rate? Looking forward to your results.

Me neither, but you posted "bout .70 long ,.25 wide on top" That could have been 0.7" and 0.25" on the top, which I thought was a bit small, even for baby carrots. But 0.7M would have been a very big carrot. 0.7cm is also small. The location of the "." is what confused me. 70 cm is huge! and 25cm diameter likewise huge.

Would 7.0 cm and 2.5 cm be closer to the mark?
I suffer from kyeboard dislexia, so I know how it can happen.

Regards,
Tony

I have switched back to running 24/7 through the GBs and nitrites have now returned to zero :D

Finally finished filling the 6 main GBs with AP washed gravel and cycling them all

Sun shone this morning so took some pics of my pride and joys :bigsmurf:

Sorry Faye, just noticed [s]some[/s] lots of bare gravel

Next project...get one of Janet's RSG filters setup in a separate bin for trial purposes (some more gravel washing :groan: )

Main tank holds 1800l, the sump tanks hold 700l and each GB holds 200-250l when on their flood cycle.

Silver Perch (33) were purchased in Nov and have been moved around several times during the AP stages I have been running

Largest fish are 250g, with ave ~200g. I needed to keep feed to less than optimal growing levels in the early stages due to insufficient GB space but have remedied this

The fish will be an edible size by xmas and looking at restocking shortly when the weather warms a bit

The square boxes (rainwater pits) are used to divert the inflow to the GBs, this is a pic of the one supply GB3&4.

The "IN" pipe (centre) is connected to the main fish tank and all the black boxes...one of the flaps are activated to let the water in to one GB at a time..they are covered to minimise algae growth
