What are you growing? Also, what do you do if you get too many roots 1/2 way into one of those pipe..

And and and... who was the poor bugger with the hole drill that had to cut all the holes in the pipes...

I wonder if thats like the holes in donuts... somewhere theres a million little curved discs...
:rr:

How are you harvesting? I can't imagine that you pull the pipes out, and the spacing is very narrow to be walking in... ??

Ahh... Felix, you've reminded me of just how simple and yet still effective hydroponics was/can be.......

I suppose one of the nice things about the early pioneering stages of anything is that nearly any approach is valid.... there's no real right or wrong way of doing things....

Just the way that works for you.....

MAtthew & Phro, not my system. But they grow lettuce in these channels. To harvest, just pluck the plant from the top!

I think this set-up was one that Felix visited a couple of years ago? I'm fairly sure it's not his.

Felix, just curious, what was the reason for the small upturned sweep on the high end of each pipe?

Felix,

I understand that this is not your set up. Nice to see the pictures though. Do you happen to have knowledge of the opperation enough to answer the question concerning the harvesting? It seems they would have to have very long arms to harvest most of this crop. Just curious, I seem to design stuff like this then I am forced to have to remember something like how to get to my crop. I was just thinking maybe they had some simple, smart, easily over looked idea, that I could use. The simplicity of the set up is nice to see.

Mathew

The lengths of PVC are cradled in little semi-circles of PVC at each end. Maybe to harvest, you disconnect the water and just pop the PVC out of its cradle? Or pop out one end and pivot the length so you can reach it? Or pop out every 4th length so you can crawl underneath and get between the remaining lengths?

Or how about long tongs?

couldn't tell you there... & I probably couldn't find that place again even if I tried! That place redefines "the boonies"
