TT - the bottom seam is a very soft bit, please be careful of it.
Its full life depends on it!
think I'd be inclined to put a protective tape several layers thick around the edge while moving it!
Hope you don't mind my comment.

Funny story vb, last wknd had the cop chopper hovering over our yard for nearly 10 minutes whilst i was digging. I waved politely, angelic wife gave them the bird. Next door is a 2 story place and the old lady can see into our yard and i reckon with the gh and hole digging, she thought we were into a bit of alternative cropping. No-one has knocked on my door yet, perhaps they are waiting til harvest for their share. Man those grave diggers earn their pay packet.

gotcha C1. It will prolly stay where it is for a week. It can be easily moved by 2 of us, just a bit awkward. I am a bit concerned about drilling the hole for pumping as it will be where the base joins in the middle. Any advice?

I hope I get a visit sometime once I've got the GH in. Will insist upon them getting a warrant  Nah - that would be silly, then they'd be out to get me for any minor infringement I spose

I have a few bags of dried duckweed in my freezer. If i see them walking up to my door, i might just casually throw a few around the lounge and wait for their eyes to pop, b4 being sadly disappointed post forensic. Oh yea, could have a hella lotta fun.

My dad reckons they will keep an eye on things and expect a doorknock about crop harvest time. Man are they gunna be disappointed.I can hear the conversation,
"So man, ya gotta hydro setup outta ya shed, dried weed in ya freeza, a nice gh to keep things warm and dry, and you expect us to believe it's all on the up and up?"

"Yes officer, care for some of my basil pesto?"

Fair dinkum, i will have my lines down pat should i get the knock.

It is possible to get a tank flange.
the other thought is for no holes to be cut!
Though if you were to, I would use a holesaw
with the appropriate gromet to suit the pipe and the hole.
Avoiding futher fittings.
IMHO

I could certainly pump out the top. If i have a teeny slope in my fishtank position, i could simply place my exit pipe at the lowest point. If i do this, does it matter if the pump is in line out of the tank, or does it need to be a sump, drawing up from inside the tank? I have been planning on an inline external fishtank pump.

Just have a foot valve in the tank to stop airlocks when the pump is off!

Hi Aussie, i too am lazy, but it is the broke kind of lazy so it was roll up the sleeves time.
C1 i am not quite sure what a foot valve is but understand ur point. I will ask my plumbing supplies joint what i need, with ur point in mind.

Thanx 4 kind words and advice, getting to the point where each step needs to be the right one, so advice is timely.
