Careful with sump tanks in a hole you will need a sump pump in there [ ell had them float]

Too right - very disconcerting seeing the sump tanks floating down the road

Whole reason for the tanks is to put my current fish pump in them FF. They hold a total of 800lts, so should be enough. Gunna put the spa pump in line, inside the shed as the pump to the gbs.. Pick the tank up this Wed/Thur i hope.
LB, the hole is a killer. Got half way down and did some serious pond liner net surfing! Pondliner would better utilize the space and give more volume per the depth, but it was gunna run close to $300 by the time i had the underlay. Answer, keep digging!

On the bathtub front, i may have scored quite a few for buggerall, pick up 2moro i think. Let ya know. (Who is gunna tell my missus?)

What do you have as current fish pump. With all those grow beds if they all drain at the same time you will need a good pump

subpond 3000, 6000lt/hr at 1m head. If needed, i can restrict the inflow to the sump. I really think 800lts sump will be ok. I am only firing up 8 bathtubs initially, which is a max of 800lts in the gbs at any one time. If it takes 8min to drain, that is 100lts/min, 6000lts an hour. I can restrict drainage from the gbs by reducing diameter of outflow point at gb and capping then drilling holes in sump inflow point if needed.

If i can calibrate the float switch to kick in at say 250lts full, i have say 500lts of fill left whilst the pump is also pumping, if u follow. I agree it sounds tight but think i have enough leeway initially to cope.

Somewhere you said that you where going to pump to the tank and overflow to the grow beds now i read the spar pump to the grow beds! if you use the spar pump you will have plenty of water you can run a bypass back to the fish tank for airiation

Yep, thought about it. Decided it was safer to pump out of the sump to fishtank and then pump in line from fishtank to gbs. I have plenty of spare capacity in the fishtank to handle the flow rate back from sump/gbs.

What i don't have is ur ol bobcat to dig the bloody sump hole for me!! Still, only 200mm-300mm to go and will knock it off next wknd. Man the beer tasted good 2nite.

File comment: This hole is 900mm wide by 1.7 mts long by 1.2mts deep. We dug it by hand. There is an easier way, but that costs money.

File comment: sump tanks joined, nearly ready to place in hole. We used existing holes to join them.

man, some work has been summed up in those last 3 photos. Nearly 2 cubic metres of dirt dug by hand, are we insane?

Had to get rid of excess piping and patch some holes on the sumps. Will put some sort of support in for the join and have levelled the sump hole with a bit of remaining crusher dust.

TT i bow down to you. that hole is magnificent!

and i bet the boulders behind you came from there aswell? just like my dirt.

I would never have attempted that by hand, hence why part of my IBC is above ground ;) LOL

Indeed they did Steve. They were the large ones, couple dozen i spose. The smaller ones just got dumped with the dirt around my lemon tree. I am so sick of digging that hole, but it is done now and the beers taste great.
