this big 1200 watts

ok, so thats probably 1200W input power. Minus at leaset 400W for the fan gives you 800W.

figure say 2kw refrigeration capability.

Totally up to you, i already have some junked ACs that we can buggerize around with, no sense in gutting a working DE-hum unit that you can ebay!
