Ahhh good question. Water testing and understanding water quality is an excellent step towards understanding whats yoour plants are living on, and the relationship between them and the fish in the tank...

It all has to do with the Nitrogen Cycle...

Here is a website that explains the nitrogen cycle.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrogen_cycle

See Aquamad for water testing...

No i haven't been testing the nitrites to see what nutrients are in the system.
How do you do that ..

Probably a safety thing CC, the test contain rather strong chemicals, and EVERYONE who watches current affairs shows KNOWS that you young people these days are all druggos and would use the testkits to make bad things ;)

Kidding dude ;)

Certain people have been known to urinate in the water to get the nitrogen cycle going quickly.

AM, I do wonder in all the AP systems, what is a magic number for crops to grow well just like in your systems...?

Mate, A lot of what I planted has been choked out by other stuff - there is a fare mix in there, but tomatoes, cucumbers, rocket and pumpkin are most definately the dominant plants in the system :)

Dude you can never be to careful around an Aquaponics addict... They will do ANYTHING...

"... james bond starts playing in the background... AM puts on his harness and safety wire... jumps off the shed room in front of the IBC... hands and legs spread flat... stops 2 inches from the ground (Tom cruise style)..."

... To get that system to start to cycle...

:rr:
