no stress redness or anything, just popping up and down like a pogo stick in it's sick tank. Readings were best ever vb after water change but the water was pretty turbid and had a fair bit of uneaten food in it prior to w/change. I would have expected more than 1 to be affected. It is one of the smaller ones and i just don't think it can see, dunno.

Yes to spa filter question FF. It only runs once per week. If i changed the filter paper to rock same as gbs would that make any difference?
VB, pH 7.3, ammo zip, nitrite < .25, nitrate <10.
This morning it is still barely alive swimming upside down in it's hospital tank. Like to understand so might do some net surfing.

done some quick reading. Looks like swim bladder disorder. Swim bladder regulates buoyancy, equilibrium. If this malfunctions, fish has no control over how it swims/floats. Common cause is over feeding (which i have been doing. It is also common where diet is not varied.) This causes pressure in the stomach which can affect the swim bladder's ability to self regulate and maintain buoyancy. It is a condition, not a disease and may right itself after several days without food, to allow digestive system to empty, reducing pressure on swim bladder.
It did have food stuck in its throat, which has since disappeared. Only 2 outcomes, it lives or dies. Was gunna freeze it but just might see how things unfold to see if fasting helps.

cheers Delgrade. Had another floater this morning. Only discovered it after feeding. Time to do some more readings....

OK:
pH 7.3
Ammo 0
Nitrite .5
Nitrate 20
GH 220
KH 60

GH is off the scale and nitrite is higher than it was 2 days ago. I tested the GH of my water tank (as i did a water change of 1/3 two days ago.) Water tank GH is 60.

Hmmmm....

When i have been adding boiling water occasionally (tank water), i pour it over the bird netting that sits above the water. This netting is the 10mm square stuff, that doesn't rust, available anywhere. Could i be leaching stuff out of here into the water? Could there be a build up of stuff in my spa filter affecting GH?

I am thinking i at least need to get this GH down so need to change out more water and retest.

I would really appreciate some advice.
