yeah, if I had a decent heating system, they would be ready to go crazy when summer hits. I will heat the tanks to keep them alive, but am eating them as fast as we can without turning into barra ourselves lol

well, the final barra were culled on Saturday night, 43 fish in total, weighing in at a tiny 6.5 kilos. Biggest around the 280g mark, the smallest not much more than advanced fingerlings lol

they tasted fantastic after not being fed for a while because of the cold temps. I put aside 2 to put into an aquarium but they didn't make it unfortunately...

so the grand total of harvested eaten fish was 196. total eaten weight of just under 38 kilos. fcr's to come

I reckon out of the 40 or so not eaten, around 20 were deaths and 20 were cannibalism. but hard to know because I never counted them when they went into the tanks... was worth every cent of it, thoroughly enjoyed the whole process, am having serious AP withdrawals, I don't even have a mini system, just lots of empty tanks lol

So if you started with about 200 fingerlings and acheived about 38kg in total.... with some of the fish still smallish (200-300gm) and I wanted to average about 1kg of fish per week to feed the family....

Then would I be right in thinking I probably need to stock at least 300-400 fingerlings to acheive that level of weekly production....

In about 3500ltrs of tank you're running would this be about the maximum you could stock or would you be pushing over the limit for that sized system.....

I'm assuming you'd probably have to double the growbed capacity to match that level of stocking as well...which would take it to about 8 growbeds @ 6000ltrs of capacity.... correct??

Guess that would mean at least a 12mtr greenhouse structure as well?
