Hi Rass
These windmills are a simple mechanical design.. cheap to make.

http://www.greenwindmill.com/

No good for generating electrical power though

There area couple of drawbacks to generating electricity to store it. There are losses in the storing and using exchange and then the initial cost of a battery bank and system. Here a system that would run a small house will average about $30k US, and where I live we are not eligible for any of the state or federal subsidies. And with the return on investment being right around 10 years and the average life here being 15, it's not a good investment in my opinion. At least not at the moment. Although if I had the money, I'd probably do it anyway!

Where I am, we have a nearly constant breeze. So a cheap mechanical system is where I'd like to start. In the case of aeration, more is better! If I can run redundant systems, I'd like to.

here is a plan that is interesting. it shows how to make the blades from pvc pipe. i wonder could a compressor from a 12 volt air pump could be used instead of a alternator to produce air http://www.velacreations.com/chispito.html
