You do realize that the pump will still burn out if the float switch fails.... do you have any other fall back?

i've had a few problems getting my float switch just right but i have a small shallowish tank, the bigger the system the better they would work. for small systems timers are pretty good, especially with an end cap on your outlet with holes to regulate the return flow
